HCPC COVID-19 Temporary Register

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the HCPC is working with the UK Government to create a COVID-19 temporary register of two parts, with dietitians being included in phase two.

The HCPC’s intention is to ensure there are no regulatory barriers to the following two groups practising on a temporary basis:

  • Former registrants who have de-registered within the last three years.
  • Final year students, on UK approved programmes, who have completed all their clinical practice placements.

More information on this from the HCPC.

BDA Emergency Membership

In order to support the wider profession at this challenging time, the BDA has developed a six month discounted Emergency Membership to help those in the groups above who may be contacted to join the register. If you are going onto the register, or know of anyone who is, please share this page with them and encourage them to get in touch.

Benefits

This emergency membership includes all the benefits and services provided to BDA full members such as:

  • Vital Professional Indemnity Insurance (up to £10million) ensuring you're legally covered to practice,
  • Trade Union cover to support you with employment rights, wellbeing and to protect you with any workplace issues you may experience at this challenging time,
  • Free access to usually paid-for clinical guidance and toolkits to support you in your changing role (e.g. critical care, information on renal patients, end of life care, tips on parenteral feeding and advice for paediatric dietitians who may be moving over to adult care.)
  • Free access to the latest evidence-based information and dietetic research via PEN, and The Journal, and much more.

As part of the BDA community, you will be fully supported by the nation's largest association of dietetic professionals. Please see FAQs below which outline our process and support.
