NHS Pay Four Nations Update November 2018
England, Scotland and Wales have now reached agreement on pay for the next three years. The deals are broadly similar and are at implementation stage. Importantly members in Wales should receive their backdated pay in time for Christmas.
Details of pay progression frameworks, the equalities sections of the AfC handbook and enhanced shared parental leave and child bereavement leave are being developed by technical working parties which the BDA is part of.
In Northern Ireland there has been slower progress on pay due to the lack of Government. A claim was submitted for 3% for year one and the consultative ballot in NI closed on 23 November with 94% of respondents voting in favour. However, an offer was received on the same day which can be found here (https://www.health-ni.gov.uk/news/department-sets-out-proposals-hsc-pay-deal). A joint trade union response to the offer will be published in the next few days.
NHS Pay Offer Details May 2018
The NHS trade unions have been in talks with employers and the government about a three year pay deal for NHS staff. These negotiations have resulted in a framework agreement which, if agreed by union members, the government will fund with new money, not money taken from patient care.
The BDA Trade Union understands that the proposed pay offer will affect each of our members in different ways - this is why we are actively promoting and publishing material so that our members can make an informed decision.
